A Giveaway

Pin It Now!

Maybe you are like me and are planning to go and see Julie & Julia at the cinema. I know it looks a bit cheesy and chick flicky, but I can't always just watch serious intellectually stimulating foreign films. Occasionally, I need a bit of Hollywood escapism. Therefore, a film that has Meryl Streep in it and is about food seems like a good choice.

Well, this is where the giveaway comes in. The lovely people at Duckworth Overlook sent me two copies of the book the film is based on, Julia Child's (with Alex Prud'homme) My Life in France. One copy is for me to read and the other copy is for one of you.

All you need to do, to be in with a chance of winning the book, is to leave a comment on this post before the 15th September 2009. I will be drawing one of the names at random and send the book to the lucky winner. Unfortunately, this giveaway is only open to UK residents, due to issues to do with publishing rights.

Well, it looks like I'm not in the running for the giveaway, but I am curious to hear what you think of the movie. I haven't seen it yet (I had to read the book first, silly as I may be)... Honestly, I think the movie looks like it's going to better. From the snippets I've seen of Ms. Streep's performance - wow - she's really good!

I'm planning to see this at the weekend, I'm excited to see the Julia Child/Meryl Streep part the most, so winning a copy of the book would be great!

I have seen the movie with my non-foodie friends and they thoroughly enjoyed it as well. It is a heartwarming story.

I would love to have a copy of the book, so consider me submitted for an entry! While I'm currently in Southern California for work, I have a Norwich address where my sweetie awaits my return. Does that count?

I would love to read this, I intend to see the film as Meryl Streep just puts her all into a character, so will bring her alive. But I do always like the books better.
please add me

I'm in France for another couple of weeks and I don't want to see it dubbed into French so I hope it is still on the screens when I get back to the UK.

Made your Baba Ganoush at the weekend - I added yoghourt this time and it was even better. Thanks for the recipe.

Great giveaway Sylvie. I have not seen the film yet, but have been reading the book, Julie and Julia. I sure hope the film isn't filled with swearing and stuff like her book! (Julie's not Julia's!) I hate foul language, it's so common and unnecessary.

Chelsea, I think Meryl Streep is a fantastic actress and am really quite looking forward to the film.

Jenny, I think I might have to wait til next week to see it.

Val, that sounds promising.

Rachel, of course that counts!

Joby, consider yourself added.

Syrahsuzie, I'm sure it'll be on for a few weeks.

Marie, I don't have much of a problem with some swearing, but I hope that you won't be disappointed.

Katiecakes, that's why I'm taking a friend who also is into food and Meryl Streep!

I really want to see this, even more so after seeing a full trailer at the cinema last week, unfortuantely the only person who was willing to go and see it with me has gone on holiday for the next 2 weeks (how dare she!) this book would at least heal my pain until it comes on DVD...
