Tofu Fajitas

Pin It Now!

I'm trying to cut down the amount of meat we eat, not just because the price of good quality meat is getting very high, but I guess it's gotta have some health benefits, too.

Tofu is something I am still getting into. I've tried different ways of preparing it, different brands and flavours and I have not always liked the outcome. One way I do like having it is in Tofu Fajitas. I use my Fajita Seasoning Mix and make the fajitas as I would normally do, just replacing the chicken with Beech Smoked Tofu. Quick, healthy and satisfying.

I'm not sure about tofu, I guess there's bad tofu and good tofu!!
These do look quite delicious though...

I have never tried tofu - I have a box in my cupboard. I've not seen beech smoked tofu - sounds interesting.

That sounds really nice Sylvie. I like Tofu as Craig introduced me to it when he made stew back in the early days of our marraige.

I once made a lasagne with tofu. A friend commented that it would have been good if there had been some meat in it. :-)

Your plate says it all: I would have this for dinner, breakfast and lunch and still ask for a bis the day after :)

Nic, you're right and I've had both.

Jan, you can find it in most supermarkets. It's the Cauldron brand.

Raquel, smoked tofu just has that bit of extra flavour.

Sue, I'm still discovering tofu and all it's uses really.

Silvia, I just don't like to buy cheap meat. I'd rather eat less of it and buy good quality.

Jan, thanks for the laugh!

Lore, thanks.

Rosie, I've saved you one.

Good way of using tofu, I reckon. Certainly needs to be with something strong-flavoured.

They do look delicious Sylvie. The jury is still out on tofu in this house. I am afraid I am not overly fond of the consistency. It's also very bland, but then I suppose chicken can be pretty bland as well!

I am another person who has tofu in the cupboard but I haven't really found the best way of using it!

What a good idea, I am also eating far less meat than I was and have embraced tofu and have even made my own from scratch (written up on my blog), from soy beans and the home made is delicious, vastly different to shop offerings.

My top tofu tips are to press it well to squeeze out all the water and to marinade it. Experiment with tofu, there are ways to love it, but I agree that bad tofu can put you off for life, which would be a shame!
